The Friday Tally

  • Blogs updated this week: Kevin’s MySpace blog and Brian’s TVGuide.com blog, which contained quite a few Season 3 tidbits that I’ve added to OT’s Season 3 post.
  • The latest NBC scheduling press release shows that the Season 2 finale Casino Night will re-air on September 14th. (And this time, it’s the supersized version!)
  • Who loves The Office? — Conan O’Brien (see page 2 of The Onion’s A.V. Club interview) and NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams (see page 3 of The New York Observer’s interview). Thanks to Stacy for the Conan tip!
  • Emmy spoiler warning: I will be posting Office Emmy news here on Sunday just as soon as I hear it, which means probably before the show airs on the West Coast. You have been warned. :)

Jenna shops for her Emmy dress

Okay, so this is an Emmy story so I should have added it to the Emmy post. And normally, I am not that interested in fashion, but after reading the article, I’ve learned that picking the right dress for the Emmys is like, a BIG DEAL.

USA Today follows Jenna Fischer as she figures out what to wear on Emmy night. I think I would rather reformat my hard drive than shop for fancy dresses, but Jenna handles it with her characteristic charm and good humor.

Watch Jenna try on Emmy dresses here. The accompanying article appears below the video window.

(I didn’t like either of the dresses she tried on; did you?)

Reminder: Rainn on Leno tonight

Just a reminder that Rainn Wilson appears on ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’ tonight.

This is a repeat of his July 20th appearance, resplendent in Miami Vice garb and stubble.

Colin Farrell and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers also appear.

David Brent teaches Microsoft values

I don’t normally post items related to the original BBC version of “The Office,” but this was too good to pass up.

A Microsoft UK employee (Stephen Merchant) interviews David Brent (Ricky Gervais), former manager of Wernham Hogg paper products in Slough, for his insights on corporate culture and career development.

Even though these videos were produced back in 2003, I just received notice of them today, through the article ‘The Office’ visits Microsoft’s office in PC Advisor.

David’s insights into Nelson Mandela and Stephen Hawking are thought-provoking, to say the least. And please make sure to watch until the end of both videos.

Prism DuroSport t-shirt recall

As OfficeTally has publicized the Prism DuroSport music player in the past, we would be remiss to not relay the company’s latest announcement to recall its t-shirts:

An excerpt from the recall announcement:

Two specific product “defects” have been claimed. One leads to a very slight skin rash, while the other involves the actual shape of the shirt — it is possible that we may have inadvertently shipped dog shirts to a few of our human customers.

Read Prism DuroSport’s full recall announcement here. OT applauds the Prism DuroSport folks for stepping up and doing the right thing.

P.S. You can find a very logical explanation for the dog shirts here.

Emmy good luck cake

On behalf of excited Office fans everywhere, a good luck cake was delivered to The Office set today:

Jenna Fischer proclaimed: “It tasted really good. I mean, like, it was amazing. Have you had cake from this place before? If not, treat yourself to one. Amazing!”

For all the details, head on over to GMMR. (And thanks to Wendy for being the mastermind and project manager for putting this together!)

Reminder: Jenna on Conan tonight

Jenna Fischer appears on ‘Late Night with Conan O’Brien’ tonight.

This is a repeat of her March 2nd appearance, and also includes Bob Costas and Dwayne Perkins.

Jenna relays a pretty funny story about her short stint as an International Spice Girl.

Fortune talks to Dwight Schrute

Dwight Schrute offers Fortune Magazine his typically sage advice on getting ahead in corporate America (Rainn Wilson makes a brief appearance at the end of the interview).

An excerpt:

I’m sure as a young person climbing the corporate ladder you’re a big Fortune reader …

Absolutely. I love their articles in Fortune that have to do with pirate ships that have sunk off of Barbados. Abandoned gold mines that still have a great deal of treasure in them in the Congo. And ruins in Peru … Oh wait a minute, that’s Fortune Hunter Magazine.
