The Saturday Tally

  • Blogs this week: Jenna’s MySpace blog, John the prop guy’s MySpace blog, Kate’s TV Guide blog.
  • Grief Counseling: quotes and blog/video/iTunes links have been added to the Grief Counseling episode post.
  • Jenna Fischer in Rolling Stone: steph313 at the LJ Office community has scanned Jenna’s Hot List from Rolling Stone magazine. (Warning: NSFW)
  • Jenna Fischer at AskMen.com: Recently featured as their “Actress of the Week,” AskMen.com has a nice Jenna Fischer section that includes photos, biography, quotes, and commentary.
  • A moment with Rainn Wilson: the Seattle Post Intelligencer talked to Rainn Wilson about Dwight Schrute’s background: “They (the writers) brought in this whole, like, heavy metal, Camaro, muscle car, hair-metal type of world of Dwight’s. He’s also a nerd, but also, really white trash.”
  • Sequel to Clips & Quips Office interview: Following up on the Clips & Quips deleted scene posted here a few days ago, I got a very nice email from the video creator, Boaz Frankel, who wrote “we’re in the early stages of planning another trip to LA to get behind the scenes at The Office … I’ll definitely keep you posted when our segment goes into production.”
  • “Reading Jenna Fischer” insider info: the creator of the hilarious Reading Jenna Fischer phone-isode posted a terrific ‘insider info’ comment about the video — thanks, Preston!
  • Lastly, a purse that lights up inside: “… when you open the Solas bag, it lights up. The inside of the bag is lined with long, thin light bulbs connected to a AA battery pack … Angela Kinsey from NBC’s ‘The Office’ even took her Solas clutch to the Emmy’s. And her show won an Emmy, maybe the bag was her lucky charm.” We need to ask Miss Angela about this!

Thanks to Chris at MySpace for letting me post these! One more photo after the jump …

This excerpt just broke my heart:

Fischer sometimes has a hard time separating fantasy from reality during the show’s most emotional moments. One story line — Jim’s budding romance with new co-worker Karen (Rashida Jones) — is particularly painful for Fischer to watch: “In [the Oct. 5] episode, when Jim threw that [fake] grenade and [Karen’s] paper clips went flying, that was improvised. It was so charming. The Pam in me was heartbroken.”

Kate and Melora in TV Guide

Kate Flannery (“Meredith”) has posted a new TV Guide blog about tonight’s episode:

The new episode is “Grief Counseling,” where Michael’s former boss suddenly dies in an accident … Michael’s old boss was Ed Truck, played by Ken Howard. Do you remember the Season 2 episode, “The Carpet,” when Ken Howard was a guest on the show? (I remember him from The White Shadow.) Well, that episode showed an “old” picture of Ed Truck and Michael Scott from the ’80s, where they each sported a mullet. You know what they say about a mullet, right? Business in the front and a PARTY IN THE BACK!!!!

TV Guide also features an interview with Melora Hardin (“Jan”):

Kate Flannery, who plays Meredith, is really funny. I love how she plays Meredith as so disgusted all the time with herself and with life … It’s hilarious, the faces she makes bowl me over. But I would have to say that the person who makes me laugh the most is Steve [Carell]. I’m a pretty intense straight man and sometimes I just can’t hold it together. There are some good bloopers on the Season 2 DVD.

Chili’s … baby back ribs … Chili’s baby back ribs … classic blooper!

Clips and Quips video: missing scene

clips and quips

If you are a long-time Office fan, you’ve already seen Boaz Frankel’s hilarious interview with Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski, B.J. Novak, and Rainn Wilson.

But did you know there was a scene that was never aired? — Boaz tries out for the part of Phil, the intern. Talk about awkward pauses …

Watch the deleted scene here. (You’ll need to fast-forward through the Jordana Brewster interview.)

Thanks to Betsy for the tip!
