Maybe including some David Wallace!? Please?
[from tanster: that would be sweet!]
so it’s an extended episode of the 53 minute version, but why the hours gap between part 1 and part 2?
thanks.
Even though the timeslot was 52 minutes, the episode without commercials only ran just 36 minutes. If they did 2 half hours with commercials, it would be 44 minutes long without commercials (or about 22 minutes per episode). This would increase the episode by about 7-8 minutes! I’ll be watching. I love the producer’s cuts of the Office and Parks & Rec!
[from tanster: that was my calculation, too! hoping for new footage…]
1. YES!!!! What a great birthday gift!
2. YES!!!! Please include Wallace!!!
3. Why the hour in between them?
4. Have they done this before?
David! David! David!
Oh, and 5! Will Office Tally be running a poll for this? I REALLY want to see a version of Goodbye, Michael on top!
David Wallace and Hank Tate! Both filmed scenes with Michael, right?
YAY! I love me some David Wallace! Here’s hoping.
I totally agree #7, Goodbye, Michael is the best episode of the season, it should be number one!
Was just saying to someone at work today how sad I was that I wouldn’t have a new Office episode to watch this week – yay! Not completely new, but definitely something to look forward to – bring on the wine and cheezies!
I assume this is how they would do it in syndication too?
I hope, if I ever watch this episode in its very extended version, that David Wallace is included. Let’s see.
Maybe this explains why NBC never showed any deleted scene clips after the episode aired. I found it very strange. Bring on David Wallace please!
I just wonder why they didn’t air it in this more fitting 1-hour slot the first time they showed it.
5 mins of David Wallace would make Michael’s departure a little bit easier to take.
All this talk about David Wallace brings me back to watching Bridesmaids. The entire time seemed like a scavenger hunt to find Office favorites. I smiled when I saw Hank, Carol, Concierge Marie, Erin, and of course, David Wallace!
Happy Birthday TSSD!
Confirmation: Michael video-chatted with David Wallace!!! And it was great. :)
hahahah david wallace ftw!!
“Yeah, and I ‘left’ to spend more time with my kids” (: hahaha that just made the entire episode
Pay close attention somewhere between the 15-20 min mark of the first half hour! It’s exactly who we’ve been waiting for :)
well david wallace did make an appearance but he was a bit of an asshole lol
The David Wallace bit was funny. Good addition! I guess they’ll be airing these versions with the bonus footage in syndication as Part 1 and 2?
@#16 – You have no idea how weird it was to see Concierge Marie and Erin randomly start kissing on that plane. Hysterical though. I also spotted Nancy and Andy Buckley. I didn’t catch Hank though.
@17 Thanks! Pretty awesome gift! Part 1 was awesome, and so far Part 2 is just as great! Tanster, PLEASE post polls for these! They were both SO amazing!
Enjoyed David’s REI comment, but I was hoping for something more heartfelt between them. Overall I thought all the extended/added scenes were good. Knew they couldn’t resist giving it the full hour long treatment, albeit divided :)
Part 2:
-Previously on The Office
-Erin/Michael scene and DeAngelo sales pitch scene pushed
-Michael speaks more to Creed and Meredith in his office
-Everyone discusses cake, Kevin talking head, Kevin as a caricature
-Andy sales pitch overlaps DeAngelo outside on the phone
-Angela, Oscar, Ryan, Kelly talking heads
Everything new was great. My favorite addition was in part 2, everybody’s final TH’s at the end. All about Michael and then Kelly’s comes and it’s just all about Ryan. Really made me laugh out loud.
Angela’s continued hatred of cupcakes was hilarious.
Does anyone know where I can just see the David Wallace part? My roommate was talking to me and I missed it.
Loved the scene with Creed. “Can I have my boots back.” “That’s not how it works, Boss, and you know it.”
The added scenes were very good and added a missing element to the final Michael episode. The scene with the workers arguing over cake harkens back to Survivor Man, where Jim was trying to combine birthdays. The David Wallace phone call brought back memories of Employee Transfer, when Holly was transferred to Nashua. BTW, Wallace was in good form as a total jerk. The talking heads in the last scene probably should have been earlier, but that’s a timing question. I can understand why the first version didn’t have them, as everyone would be emotional about Michael leaving.
One question, any news on whether Steve Carell will be making guest appearances in the next season on the Office?
I hope the producer’s cut makes the dvd extra. Does anybody know if it will?
