Just….too amazing. Haven’t seen emotions this real on television in a long time.
Really split on this reveal. Personally, I’d rather see an episode of recreated flashbacks showing the documentarian intervening in the lives of the characters.
Why can’t I stop watching this?
[from tanster: i know! me too. watched it 20 times already at least.]
Did you name that or NBC? I’m feeling very anxious today after last night. I think I may go watch the stairwell scene in Money.
Awesome moment! A really emotionally-packed ending knocked out of the park by jenna fischer’s superb acting
I am hoping that that title “The beginning of the end” is talking about the documentary and not JAM.
Has there ever been mention of Pam having a brother?
I got goosebumps!
I know I’m in the minority here, but I feel bad for Jim in all this. Pam knew how much he wanted to see the recital and could have at least been a little apologetic that she messed up the video. Is it a huge deal? No. Did Jim overreact? Yes. But, if it were me, I would have felt bad and led with an apology. For the overall, larger problem of Jim being in Philly and Pam being so reluctant about it all, it frustrates me that Pam isn’t being more supportive of Jim. Yes, she’s taking care of the kids and home front, but after so many years of Jim just kind of being stuck with his work, it’s nice to see him actually excited and motivated about something other than pranking Dwight. It’s telling and sad how he feels like he can’t tell her all the exciting things he’s doing there, like meeting with the basketball star, for fear of hurting her somehow. How many times has he supported Pam and her endeavors? Most of their relationship has just felt like Jim going above and beyond to make Pam happy and it would be nice if Pam now did the same.
I love this scene and think it’s so realistic of relationships. My husband and I have had almost this exact same fight… except I was Jim…. Work can be stressful and we take it out on those closest to us. I am excited to see where this goes.
In a show that hasn’t been the most realistic in the past few years, this scene changed that. It was a married couple, never perfect. Couples always fight.
What real doco team will stop shooting? when there is a dramatic moment going on?
I really didn’t like how typically attractive this Brian guy was. Maybe I’m overreacting, but I felt like he should have looked a little…I dunno..normal? Seems kinda late in the story arc to give Pam some attractive guy friend that may or may not make her seem unfaithful.
Besides, I’ve worked on documentaries..and none of us look like that guy. Ever. :D
This one hit close to home for me. As a consultant, I have had to leave my wife and then 1 year old son to go to work. Missing out on my son’s achievements and progress really bothered me and I can see why Jim would be annoyed (brought on more by work stress).
As I am away for work, that stress pales in comparison to what my wife goes thru on a daily basis with 1 kid.
Bravo John and especially Jenna for making that scene all too real. All the more reason why this is the best TV couple.
Ok so here’s my theory. Since the entire series has been shown as a finished and edited documentary this is just a continuation to the final episode of the “Office Documentary.” In the real world of the Office this is just how the team chose to edit the final episodes of the show because of its significance to the plot of the documentary. We’ll see I suppose.
Why does Brian call Pam ‘Midge’? Yes he does, go listen again.
i definitely heard “midge” too! i’m not a native english speaker, so i might have misunderstood. i can’t stop seeing this scene, it’s an instant tear maker.
Heartbreaking!
I bet they all use fake names at the office, because they don’t want other people who watch the documentary to be able to track them down? like for privacy reasons? So maybe her real name is Midge
Gotta put this “Midge” thing to rest guys. Turn on the closed captions on the clip above. They read “Hey, it’s”, not “Midge”.
‘Hey’ doesn’t sound a thing like ‘Midge’. Closed caption isn’t perfect.
