The Saturday Tally

  • Updated blogs: Brian’s TV Guide blog, Angela’s MySpace blog, TV Guide’s Office blog.
  • B.J. Novak performs at The Laugh Factory tonight in Hollywood. More info
  • I’ve updated the Season 3 post with little tidbits from Kristin’s Friday column.
  • Looks like another Office marathon is scheduled; August 31 will offer The Dundies, Take Your Daughter to Work Day, and Conflict Resolution.
  • Lastly, the final iPod Giveaway question was posted this week, and contestants have until Saturday, August 19th, 11:59pm PT to post answers. There have been eight questions in all, and over 500 total responses! I’ve read some of the entries, and they are amazing — well written, creative, and FUNNY. James and I absolutely have a huge challenge ahead of us in picking the six winners (one iPod winner, five iTunes video winners)!

Programming notes

  • First, just another reminder to vote for your favorite Office episode — the fan favorite will air next Thursday, August 17!
  • The latest scheduling press release shows an Office Marathon on August 24th — airing Michael’s Birthday, The Secret, and Drug Testing. I would take this with a grain of salt, though, as NBC has been known to schedule multiple episodes, and then yank back all but one come air day. Watch the OT Calendar for the latest updates!
  • Lastly, did you miss Steve Carell’s wonderfully long and funny visit with Craig Ferguson last night?

Office cast hosts NBC Primetime Preview

Golden Globe winner Steve Carell and the cast of NBC’s Emmy Award-nominated “The Office” (Thursdays, 8:30-9 p.m. ET) will appear in character as the Dunder-Mifflin worker bees quit pushing pencils long enough to help showcase the network’s new series for Fall 2006-07 in “NBC Primetime Preview” – a 30-minute program that features original comedy from the series’ creative team beginning August 12 through September 17.

It will … be broadcast on the NBC Network on Saturday, September 2 (8-8:30 p.m. ET).

Cast members, including recent Emmy nominee Carell, Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski, Rainn Wilson and B.J. Novak, will be featured in quick wraparound sketches designed to match the theme of each new series whose highlights are introduced during the program. Series regulars Angela Kinsey, Brian Baumgartner, Phyllis Smith, Kate Flannery, Leslie David Baker, Mindy Kaling and Paul Lieberstein also will star.

Updated Season 3 news

Have you checked out the Season 3 news post lately? Because the tidbits are now coming in more often, and they often include genuinely spoilerish information.

Of course, keep in mind that it’s impossible for me to verify the information — all I can do is link to the source. You’ll need to make up your own mind. ;)

You can find a link to Season 3 news in the sidebar under “Notable Posts,” always with the “last updated” date. The newest information is always placed at the top of the post. Happy reading!

Creed’s desk drawer must-haves

ipod-giveawayFrom Conflict Resolution:

Michael: Okay, Ryan, you told Toby that Creed has a distinct old man smell?
Creed: I know exactly what he’s talking about. I sprout mung beans on a damp paper towel in my desk drawer. Very nutritious, but they smell like death.

This week’s iPod Giveaway question is:

Besides mung bean sprouts, what else do you think Creed keeps in his desk drawer and why?

You have until Tuesday, August 1st at 11:59pm Pacific Time to add a comment. Please follow the rules!
