Independence Day Tally

A few items:

  • New fan video: Pass That Dutch — a tribute to the Dunder Mifflin Dancers. I’ve also added this to our playlist.
  • I caught Angela and Brian (Kevin) goofing off!
  • Not exactly Office-related, but if you’re a Melora Hardin (“Jan”) fan, check out melora.com. Did you know she’s a singer? If you love this genre of music (which I definitely do), check out the audio clip Heaven and Earth, as well as a video montage of her songs. New episode idea: Jan serenades Michael while out on a date! Hmmm …

Happy 4th, everybody!

TV Guide’s The Office A to Z Guide

The latest issue of TV Guide has an article entitled “The Office A to Z: Everything you need to know about the Dunder-Mifflin gang.”

Lots of interesting trivia, including:

C — Crystal Club Cola: The soft drink that you see Dunder-Mifflin employees occasionally sip in the employee lunchroom is a real regional soda brand from eastern Pennsylvania.

J — Jay Ferguson: The composer of The Office theme, Ferguson was lead singer in the rock bands Spirit and Jo Jo Gunne, and had a solo Top 40 hit in 1977 with “Thunder Island.”

Q — Quincy, M.E.: Melora Hardin, who plays Michael’s boss, Jan Levinson, appeared on the medical examiner drama twice when she was a teen actress.

Omigod, “Thunder Island”?! — I know that song! Sha-la-la-la-la-la my lady …

NBC’s new deal with YouTube

Hollywood Reporter describes a new deal between NBC and YouTube.

The most interesting part of the article to Office fans is:

The deal … includes a contest centered on the NBC series “The Office,” inviting YouTube users to create their own shortform videos touting the series.

The Associated Press provides a few more details on the contest:

NBC will sponsor a contest in which fans of “The Office” can create their own 20-second promotional clip — as long as they don’t use any copyright footage from the show. NBC will provide music, graphics and a “how-to” video.

Ooh boy, another contest! Calling Becca, proudgirl, and all other Office fanvid creators!

Prism DuroSport, anybody?

Maybe this is old news to all of you, but this was the first time I had heard about it …

Remember in the episode The Injury, when Dwight sees Pam playing with her new MP3 player, the Prism DuroSport? He remarks, ” … they’re like an iPod, only they’re better. ‘Cause they’re chunkier and more solid.”

Well, now you can order your very own!

Er … just ignore the scathing review from Medialoper (no longer available), the potential bleeding from the nose and eyes, and the fact it doesn’t actually play music in MP3 format. (Because “nothing kills an artist’s career faster than large amounts of people having access to their music.”)

And yeah, don’t be alarmed that it has its own hate site, www.prismdurosportsucks.com (no longer available).

Thanks to flotsette for the tip!

(And flotsette says, “Apparently it was done by the show writers. Be sure to click ALL the links, it goes on forever, and it is HILARIOUS.”)

Casino Night to re-air July 6th

NBC has just announced that the Season 2 finale, Casino Night, will re-air on Thursday, July 6th, from 9:30-10pm.

Since this episode runs 40 minutes long, I’m wondering how NBC will squeeze it into a 30-minute slot; no commercials maybe? (Heaven forbid that they cut scenes out to make it fit 30 minutes!)

I’ll add this to the Calendar when I get home from work …
