A webisode sneak peek from EW

The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly includes a humorous article about the upcoming Office webisodes, which are scheduled to start on July 13.

An excerpt:

If this Law & Order: Ledger Victim’s Unit story line sounds like a suspenseful whodunit, keep in mind that this is The Office, where no one has the energy to go out to lunch, let alone track down a thief. (The biggest action scene? The trio sneaks into Michael’s empty office to try out all his toys.)

Review of The Office, Season 2

PopMatters’ Jesse Hicks has written a beautifully poignant review of The Office’s second season.

An excerpt:

With Season Two’s 22 episodes … the focus expanded to include the entire staff, whose tragicomic rhythms came to the fore. Michael morphed from clown to sad clown as viewers came to realize his insensitive hi-jinks were driven by his eternal loneliness.

Office ranks #67 overall for the season

Hollywood Reporter has a list of all 2005-2006 TV shows, ranked by viewership. The Office comes in at #67 out of 156 shows.

You can find the complete list here, and the accompanying story here, which describes the upcoming Thursday 8pm timeslot as an especially competitive one.

It will definitely be interesting to see how My Name is Earl and The Office fare against its rivals …

Thanks to TV Squad for the tip.

Get sexually harassed tonight

After several schedule changes, it looks like we’ll only get to watch one Office episode tonight — Sexual Harassment. (A rerun of the Will and Grace series finale airs at 8pm, followed by My Name is Earl and The Office.)

Some highlights:

  • This episode was written by our favorite temp, B. J. Novak.
  • This episode is the only one that has ever been introduced with a viewer discretion warning. Jenna Fischer (“Pam”) mentions this distinction with pride during an early TV Guide podcast.
  • Jim introduces his real girlfriend in one of my favorite talking heads ever.
  • Dwight asks Toby a question that no HR rep should ever be expected to answer.
  • Pam’s mom makes an appearance!
  • And, of course, the office gets a visit from the inimitable Todd Packer.

The Office is fastest growing show in 2006

“The Office” was the fastest-growing series on television this season versus last. Having teamed up with “My Name is Earl” and shifted successfully to Thursday night, “The Office” grew by 60 percent this season in adults 18-49 (to an average 4.0 rating from a 2.5 the prior season).

Since moving to Thursday night, “My Name is Earl” and “The Office” in tandem are television’s #1 regularly scheduled comedy hour in originals in adults 18-49.

Woo-hoo!

That is essentially the entire mention of The Office in the announcement, but if you would like to read the entire release, you can do so here.
