Office Emmy buzz from ‘Ask Ausiello’

In TV Guide’s Ask Ausiello column today:

Question: Jim and Pam finally got together! Any scoop on The Office’s Season 3? — Daniella

Ausiello: No, but can we just pause for a second and talk about how heartbreakingly sweet their climactic kissing scene was? One of the best TV moments of the year. And “just once” may go down as the best TV line ever. And although I’m still not supposed to discuss our Dream Emmy Ballot before it gets unveiled next week, I’ll let you in on a little secret: Based on someone’s performance in the Office finale — his initials may be JK — we had to make a last-minute change to a certain supporting category (my apologies in advance to Doogie).

The Emmy nominations will be announced on July 6 at 5:30am. You bet I will slap myself awake to cheer on our show!

Office gossip

Kristin from E! Online searches for Season 3 scoop:

I had the pleasure of running into David Denman, who plays Roy, and he was much cooler than his TV counterpart. It happened to be the same week they were shooting the Office finale, and I said to him “Maybe Jim will give Roy a run for his money next season?” and he said … click here for more.

TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello reports on Monday’s NBC presentation of their fall lineup (the “upfronts”):

The casts of The Office and My Name is Earl appeared onstage and explained what it meant to them to be a part of NBC’s storied Thursday-night lineup. I don’t recall any of their specific lines, but trust me when I say their shtick was the highlight of the nearly-three hour presentation. On a lesser note, we caught a preview of the first Office webisode, slated to debut this summer exclusively on NBC.com, and … click here for more.

NBC launching new broadband comedy channel

From the press release:

Keeping with its rich comedy heritage, NBC is launching a new broadband comedy channel. DOTCOMEDY.com will create a community around one of life’s universal pleasures — laughter. Anchored by some of NBC’s best-known franchises and library programs, this online channel will feature everything from classic comedy television shows to viral videos to renowned NBC late-night programming including content from “Saturday Night Live,” “The Tonight Show,” “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” the first ten years of “Late Night With David Letterman,” “The Office,” “Last Comic Standing,” “Dream On,” “Coach,” “Leave It To Beaver,” “The Munsters,” and much more. DOTCOMEDY.com will also feature original content produced exclusively for the site including blogs, mash-ups and podcasts.

I wonder if this is where the Office’s summer webisodes will appear.

The Office moves up an hour in the fall

NBC announced its new fall schedule today during the “upfronts” at Radio City Music Hall.

The Office will be airing an hour earlier, moving from 9:30pm to 8:30pm.

Here is the new Thursday lineup:

THURSDAY
8-8:30 p.m. “My Name Is Earl” (new time)
8:30-9 p.m. “The Office” (new time)
9-10 p.m. “STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP”
10-11 p.m. “ER”/(“THE BLACK DONNELLYS” in January 2007)

One less hour to wait! That’s good.

But I wonder if this means that Season 3 storylines will have to be tamer due to the move to “family hour.” Could an episode like Sexual Harassment (the only Office episode ever to earn the “viewer discretion advised” warning) air in the 8:30 slot?
