Kate Flannery was nice enough to answer a few questions about working with a bat during last week’s ‘Business School’ episode:
OT: I assume you were acting with an animatronic bat during the garbage bag scene. What was that like? Was it being remote-controlled off-camera? Or was Rainn operating the bat? Or was it fancy editing, and nothing was actually IN the garbage bag?
Kate: We went from real bat (which we had to be extremely quiet around! basically pretending to scream!) to animatron bat — operated by a guy who was literally on my ass with a stick attached to the bat — to a motorized bat to just the bag. It was pretty wild.
Kate Flannery appeared this morning on the Elliot In The Morning radio show (originating from station DC101 in Washington D.C.), and discussed award perks, working without an audience, and her Lost connection (and I’m not talking about JJ Abrams).

Not so long ago, the Philly-born actress wouldn’t quit her waitressing job until NBC picked up “The Office” for a second season.
“My boss said to me on my last day, ‘We were going to get you a cake, but you’ll be back,’ ” Flannery recalled during a recent NBC party in Pasadena, Calif., hours after learning the show had already been picked up for a fourth season.
“I’ve had a lot of almosts in my career,” she said.
