Fortune talks to Dwight Schrute

Dwight Schrute offers Fortune Magazine his typically sage advice on getting ahead in corporate America (Rainn Wilson makes a brief appearance at the end of the interview).

An excerpt:

I’m sure as a young person climbing the corporate ladder you’re a big Fortune reader …

Absolutely. I love their articles in Fortune that have to do with pirate ships that have sunk off of Barbados. Abandoned gold mines that still have a great deal of treasure in them in the Congo. And ruins in Peru … Oh wait a minute, that’s Fortune Hunter Magazine.

Dwight Schrute’s MySpace page

There was much excitement when Dwight Schrute (as penned by Rainn Wilson) joined the MySpace fray back in late February. Unfortunately, due to other commitments, Rainn shut down Dwight’s page shortly thereafter.

I managed to find Dwight’s old entries, and have posted them after the jump. Although he only posted five times, each and every entry exudes Schrute wit and wisdom.

Ah, the good ol’ days … enjoy!

The Friday Tally

  • New cast member blogs have been updated by Jenna, Angela, Brian, Kate, and Karly (“Madge”). Lots of good reading! Siblings separated at birth, indeed.
  • Movies Online talks to Steve Carell. There’s hardly any Office-related stuff in this interview, but it’s still a thoughtful and poignant read, especially when Steve talks about finding the comedy in tragedy.
  • Los Angeles Times talks to Rainn Wilson. An article from last week about bad haircuts and the origin of Schrute-Space.
  • You guys do know that TVGuide.com has its own Office blog, right? The latest entry recaps yesterday’s webisode. Funny stuff!
  • And lastly, a reminder that the deadline to bid on Jenna’s dress at the Clothes Off Our Back auction is this Monday, August 7. Since I probably can’t even fit my head, much less my whole body, into a size 2 dress, I respectfully take myself out of the running.

Happy reading!

Today’s forecast: still Rainning

Here are a couple of new articles on Rainn Wilson:

Employee of the Year, Maxim

An excerpt:

One of the biggest differences between the U.K. and U.S. versions of The Office is that you have a love interest, Angela. What makes their relationship work?

They’re both kinky. When they’re not at work, I think Dwight wears his grandfather’s Nazi uniform and they play, like, Nazi and Fräulein games. With a riding crop.

Celebrity Q&A, People

An excerpt:

Speaking of your bobblehead, I read that 14,000 of them have been sold. Care to guess what people are doing with theirs?

I think they are often used as sex toys — that’s what I hear, and I’m alright with that.

Hmmm, I’m sensing a common thread here … ;)

And did y’all catch Rainn on Leno last night, in complete Miami Vice pastel garb and stubble?

Rainn, Rainn everywhere

  • A few OT readers wrote in about Rainn Wilson’s appearance on the ESPYs last night. Lauren wrote, “Rainn Wilson had a fairly big role on the ESPY awards tonight as Lance Armstrong’s ‘assistant’.” Barry wrote, “He did a pretty long schtick with Lance Armstrong, acting as his PA, even painting his nails. It even had Rainn taking his shirt off and dancing. Talk about a sight for sore eyes.” If you guys have a video link, let me know!
  • LJ Office also reports that Rainn appears in a short 1-800-TBS Funny spot for ‘My Super Ex-Girlfriend’ — watch it here. (Sorry, PCs only.)
  • Finally, don’t forget that Rainn appears on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ tonight! See the calendar for a full list of events.

Rainn Wilson on the ESPY Awards

In a short segment on the ESPYs, Rainn plays Lance Armstrong’s assistant, Kip Pringle.

My favorite quotes:

Lance: You have to respect a guy that’s willing to do anything. Well, maybe not respect.

Kip: He may only have one ball, but his one ball has more fire power than both of mine. (Sighs) I wish I had one ball.
