Mindy Kaling suggests Dwight Schrute as new boss

Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello spoke to The Office’s Mindy Kaling about her choice for new boss when Steve Carell leaves:

“I’d love to see Rainn Wilson in that position,” says coexecutive producer/costar Mindy Kaling, who snagged a much-deserved Emmy nomination for co-writing last season’s four-star Jim/Pam wedding episode. “Dwight has become so nuanced — you actually care about him now. I think if [we did a good job laying the groundwork] this coming season, he would be a fantastic boss.

“But that’s my dream,” she adds. “It certainly hasn’t been approved by people that are more powerful than me and who make those kinds of decisions.”

Mindy goes on to say:

“We’re still infatuated with Steve and love him so much that we’re hoping for some 11th hour like, ‘I really do like this schedule and I like craft services here, so I don’t want to go.’ But I’m going to take him at face value and [assume] he’s not being coy and that he really wants to [leave].”

A Rainny day on the set of ‘The Office’

As you may know, The Office’s Rainn Wilson celebrates his birthday today!

Kim, ‘The Office’ department head hair, just sent me this email and photo:

“Here’s a little shot I just took on set. We have sung to Rainn twice today already!

Once on set … and just now, in our little ‘touch up’ area while Peter (our craft service guy who loves Rainn) proudly carried in a beautiful birthday cake as cast and crew sang again.

What a nice way to brighten up this very rainy day in LA.”

Awwwww. Happy Birthday, Rainn!

The Office cast at CNN Heroes tribute

The Office’s Jenna Fischer, Rainn Wilson, Kate Flannery, and Creed Bratton attended ‘CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute’ on Saturday night.

Jenna says:

CNN Heroes honors 10 ordinary people who have done extraordinary things.

One man, Jorge Munoz, drives a bus all day long, goes home to his family, and together they cook 150 meals in their kitchen for the homeless. They drive their truck to the same corner each night and hand out the meals. He gets food donated and keeps it in six refrigerators around his house!

Another man, Roy Foster, was a homeless veteran. He pulled himself off the streets and now dedicates himself to getting other vets off the streets as well. He has a halfway house that provides food, shelter, and as he puts it, “camaraderie.” His motto is “no man left behind.”

It was an AMAZING night. I think this show is a great way to kick off the holidays. It has certainly put me in a more giving, patient, and loving place.

CNN: An All-Star Tribute airs Thanksgiving night, 9pm ET.
