The American Film Institute has named ‘The Office’ an outstanding TV show of 2008.
The complete list includes “Breaking Bad,” “In Treatment,” “John Adams,” “Life,” “Lost,” “Mad Men,” “The Office,” “Recount,” “The Shield” and “The Wire.”
The awards will be presented January 9th.

During the 2008 Primetime Emmy Awards show, Ricky Gervais takes his Emmy back from The Office’s Steve Carell (who was awarded the Emmy by Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert the previous year; see video).
‘The Office’ cast appeared on June 8th at the TV Land Awards to receive this year’s Future Classic Award. The show airs this Sunday, June 15th.

“The Office” has earned a 2008 TCA (Television Critics Association) nomination in the category of Outstanding Achievement in Comedy.
Other nominees in the category include “30 Rock” (NBC), “The Colbert Report” (Comedy Central), “The Daily Show” (Comedy Central), and “Flight of the Conchords” (HBO).
The winners will be announced on Saturday, July 19th.
