Office Face

Chicago magazine talks to Leslie David Baker (“Stanley”) in its December issue.

An excerpt:

Q: How did you get cast as Stanley?

A: I got a call to audition for something called The Office. It was very crowded for the callback, and I had another audition scheduled, so I went to the other audition. [On the way] back, I ran into a whole bunch of traffic … And by then I was kind of sweaty, my clothes were rumpled, and I was cranky. And the character was written the way I was feeling that day, and I just let ’er rip. Two weeks later I got a call: “You got the pilot.” And, voilà, here I am.

Dwight and Angela’s strange love

the office dwight angela strange love

The latest print issue of TV Guide (Nov. 27-Dec. 3) has a great article about Dwight and Angela’s secret romance.

An excerpt:

How do you picture them spending a romantic night out in Scranton?

Kinsey: I have a feeling they’d go to Dwight’s place, since Angela’s apartment is probably full of cats. Then Dwight would get her hot by making her watch Star Trek or Battlestar Galactica.

Wilson: I imagine Angela watching Dwight from the shadows as he plays paintball.

MeeVee’s interview with Brian Baumgartner

MeeVee’s published part one of an interview with Brian Baumgartner (“Kevin”).

Here’s an excerpt:

For me, [my MySpace page is] an extension of the show and the communicating with the fans as the character. (laughter) I understand that no one thinks it’s really Kevin. Well, who understands what people think? I’m sure some people are still skeptical that it’s actually me. It’s been fun and we’ll see where it goes. All these other websites created about the show have really generated a huge amount of interest. It’s crazy. Almost 500,000 people read the blog that I write on MySpace.

Mindy Kaling throws a party

TVGuide.com talks to Mindy Kaling about tonight’s episode, Diwali, which she wrote.

I love this quote:

The thing about our show is whenever there’s like a sweet moment, we have to counter it with a grotesque moment. Otherwise we become the sort of maudlin sitcom that we as writers hate. We don’t ever want to be the show with the “very special moment,” or where two characters understand each other finally. It has to be cut with something that’s not right, so we can “reset the order of the universe.”

Kate and Angela at TVGuide.com

Kate Flannery (“Meredith”) has updated her TV Guide blog:

This week’s new episode is “The Initiation,” written by B.J. Novak. Salesman Dwight Schrute teaches Ryan-the-former Temp how to be a salesman for Dunder Mifflin. Aside from the beet farm, I can’t give away anything. But the NBC promos have shown a phone conversation between Pam and Jim! The first time they have spoken all season. I am not allowed to say anything but you cannot miss it! What a talented guy, that B.J. Novak is. Ryan’s desk faced Meredith’s desk last season and he would sit and write a new episode of The Office while the rest of us were doing our fake office work, or online with Myspace fans.

TVG.com also has posted a nice interview with Angela Kinsey:

TVGuide.com: How did she and Dwight get together in the first place?
Kinsey: I remember when we were at the table read for the “Jim’s Party” episode [when their relationship was revealed], Rainn and I just started cracking up. He said to me, “It just makes such perfect sense.” They have this dance they do with each other. They both crave power and authority, they take life and their jobs really seriously, and they’re really militant and like to follow lots of rules.
