Rainn Wilson says, be yourself

Backstage.com interviews several actors, including The Office’s Rainn Wilson, on the importance of being true to oneself in Hollywood:

Wilson, who describes himself as “pudgy and a little bit odd, but strangely sexy and alluring at the same time,” admits that in the beginning of his career he, too, struggled with trying to fit himself into someone else’s ideal. “I had my earliest agent in New York telling me that I had to get my teeth fixed and I needed to lift weights to go for leading-man types of roles,” he recalls.

Total Axxess interviews Angela Kinsey

In celebration of The Office’s Emmy win on Sunday, Total Axxess is re-airing the interview it did with Angela Kinsey tonight at 7pm Central.

The interview originally aired on August 10th, and since then, audio clips have become available (Clip 1 | Clip 2 | Clip 3 | Clip 4), but the clips DO NOT include some of the choicest Office tidbits.

Some of the Office highlights missing from the audio clips:

  • Who has the real scoop on Season 3? The writers may be tight-lipped, but the wardrobe staff knows the details of the first six episodes of Season 3, and this is where Angela herself gets the scoop! Anybody here got a contact in wardrobe? ;)
  • How Madden Football impacts the cast (and their trailer locations). During lunch breaks, Angela, Jenna, and Steve usually have lunch together and chat about their families. John, Brian, and Rainn however, dash into the lunch line, fill up their plates as fast as possible, and then retreat to John’s trailer to compete in Madden Football. It gets so rowdy during play time, that Jenna actually had to move her trailer away from John’s because of the noise!

Listen to the Angela Kinsey interview here at 7pm Central tonight.

Thanks, Brad, for the tip!

Fortune talks to Dwight Schrute

Dwight Schrute offers Fortune Magazine his typically sage advice on getting ahead in corporate America (Rainn Wilson makes a brief appearance at the end of the interview).

An excerpt:

I’m sure as a young person climbing the corporate ladder you’re a big Fortune reader …

Absolutely. I love their articles in Fortune that have to do with pirate ships that have sunk off of Barbados. Abandoned gold mines that still have a great deal of treasure in them in the Congo. And ruins in Peru … Oh wait a minute, that’s Fortune Hunter Magazine.

Ricky Gervais talks about The Office

Entertainment Weekly speaks to Ricky Gervais about some of his current projects. Ricky also talks a little bit about the The Office:

Are you pleased with the way the American version of The Office has evolved into its own show?

It’s my favorite sitcom. You try to make shows that you want to watch. I did with The Office, I’m doing it now with Extras. It’s the show you wish someone else had made, but I had to make it. With the American Office, it’s the best of both worlds because someone else made it, and it’s just how I wanted it. So it’s a joy.

SuicideGirls interviews Paul Lieberstein

Daniel Robert Epstein of SuicideGirls.com interviews Paul Lieberstein (a writer for The Office who also plays “Toby” the human resources guy).

This is one of the best writing-centric interviews I’ve read in awhile.

Here’s an excerpt:

DRE: In the casino episode Michael went all in on the first in a game of Texas hold ’em and Toby had a pretty darn good hand, two Jacks, but it’s not even two kings or two aces.

Paul
: It’s pretty clear that Michael was bluffing. It was a ridiculous thing to do. There was a very subtle little bit there because Toby is just willing to call him out. There was another scene with a suggestion box meeting. One of suggestions was “You have bad breath” and Michael said that could be for anyone and Toby said “Aren’t these suggestions for you?” That was past anything Toby had done before in terms of trying to insult Michael. It was a lot of fun saying that one little line.

The September issue of Cat Fancy magazine (the one with “The Mystery of the Manx” on the cover) features Angela Kinsey and her two adorable kitties, Lucy and Otter. (Lucy’s pictured here.)

An excerpt:

Almost everyone on the set at “The Office” has a pet. Fischer has a dog and a cat. Brian Baumgartner (who plays Kevin) has a dog and has brought him to the set. Oscar Nunez (who plays Oscar) has a dog. Wilson has a dog. Smith has a cat. Krasinski had a cat when he lived in New York. “We’re a pet-friendly set,” Kinsey says.
