It’s about time we had another cool, creative contest, right?
First off, I must say, this idea is totally swiped from The Washington Post’s magnificent Peeps Diorama Contest (check out last year’s entries). When I saw those amazing creations, I knew I had found our next OfficeTally contest!
Your task: depict a scene from ‘The Office’ using Peeps, for a chance to win a $30 Amazon.com gift certificate and a cast-autographed mug from ‘The Office’!
UPDATE: the 20 finalists have been selected!
How to submit an entry
- Go buy some Peeps.
- Depict a scene from ‘The Office’ using Peeps.
- Take a photo of your scene, and upload it to any photo sharing site.
- Add a comment to this post with:
– The Office episode name and scene depicted
– a link to your Office Peeps photo
– any details you would like to highlight - Include a valid email address in the Email field of your comment.
You’ll see a [from tanster: received] note in the comment when your entry has been officially received; please allow 48 hours for this to happen. All entries will be hidden until finalists are announced.
Rules
- Use scenes from broadcast episodes only (no webisodes, no deleted scenes, etc).
- Characters must be made of actual whole Peeps.
- You may add clothing, backgrounds, and props only if they are part of the original scene.
- Do not add captions, labels, voice bubbles, etc. to the scene or photo.
- Don’t enhance the photo with special effects, etc. As Creed would say, au naturelle, baby!
- Submit only ONE photo. Keep in mind that if your entry is chosen as a finalist, I will resize your photo to 450 pixels wide to post here at OfficeTally.
- One entry per person.
- U.S. entries only, please.
- Violation of the rules will disqualify your entry from winning prizes.
- Check out comments 6, 8, 10, 11, and 13 below for some additional clarification.
Prizes
- Grand prize:
– $30 Amazon.com gift certificate
– A cast-autographed mug, courtesy of The Office staff! - 2nd place prize:
– $15 Amazon.com gift certificate - 3rd place prize:
– $10 Amazon.com gift certificate
Judging
- I will pick 20 finalists.
- The finalists will then be entered in a fan poll.
- Tallyheads will vote for their favorite entry.
- The top three vote-getters will receive prizes as listed above!
Schedule
- Sun March 15: Contest announced.
- Sat March 28, 11pm PT: Deadline to submit entries.
- Wed April 1: 20 finalists selected, poll posted here at OfficeTally.
- Fri April 3
Sun April 5: Poll closes. - Mon, April 6: Prize winners announced!
Disclaimer
- The rules, the prizes, and the schedule are all subject to change without notice. (Although I will do my best to not let that happen.)
- All decisions are final.
So what are you waiting for? Go get your peep on!
This is a very cool contest! It’s also a win-win-win situation. Because if at the end of designing whatever I’m going to do, I happen to not like it, I’ll have enough Peeps to last me a whole week. Nice. /Kevin
This is such a cool idea! I can’t wait to see the entries.
This is a great idea! I have a plan for my Peeps already. :D
I’m not creative enough to try this one but I can’t wait to see the entries. Peeps are my favorite things ever! These are going to look awesome.
This is going to be the first contest I enter! I’m super excited!
This looks like so much fun! Question: Is photo shop allowed? Or does that fall under the special effects category?
[from tanster: that would fall under ‘special effects,’ so not allowed. thanks for asking!]
I have a great idea for this, I just don’t have time to do it :(
Question: Can the PEEP be cut or mangled to be posed in a certain way? Basically, I need to know if the Peep can be cut (so it can have arms or legs maybe?). Or shall the Peep remain fully intact in order to be correctly used for this contest?
Don’t mind me, I need details, my mind is racing with ideas! Thank you!
[from tanster: peeps need to stay intact and basically look like and be recognized as peeps. but you can stick pipe cleaners in them for legs, etc.]
Oh, awesome! Now, to narrow down which scene to peep-ify…
Question. If two things are going on at the same time at the same location, but were shown as separate scenes, can we combine them into one large scene? For example…can we recreate the entire office during Christmas Party or the entire beach during Beach Games or do they have to be very specific scenes?
[from tanster: actual scenes only. entries will be checked against episode video.]
Question: Do cats (like Garbage) count as characters? Or can one have a non-peep cat?
[from tanster: only people count as characters.]
This is so cool!
If we can add pipecleaners for arms and legs, can we also add eyes?
[from tanster: i don’t want to bog the contest down with super-specific details. so i will say, peeps need to stay intact and the characters need to look like and be recognized as peeps. other that that, it’s up to you. :) ]
This looks like a very fun contest! I can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with. Good luck to all who enter!!!

Hi! Sorry, just a clarification. In terms of staying “intact,” does that mean we can’t make them taller or skinny by either cutting or adding on pieces? I mean, the face would still look like a Peep but the body would just form to fit the character… :)

Maybe this is silly but I know the Cat Macroes was only from Season 5. Can the Peeps be from any season?
As people have started submitting entries, no more questions will be answered, sorry! Just follow the guidelines … :)

This is a WONDERFUL idea. Tanster, this is why I love OfficeTally and am a loyal follower – you come up (or steal, haha) great ideas to bring The Office fans together. I know it’s not easy with a full-time job, a boyfriend and a personal life, so I wanted to thank you for all you do and let you know that we as an Office community really appreciate your devotion!
[from tanster: aw, thank you, ann! wait until you see the entries! :) ]

OMG. I had no idea Peeps had so much screen charisma! The entries so far have been hilarious. Keep ’em coming!
I wasn’t planning on entering this contest, but last night I woke up in the middle of the night with the idea in my head! It was really strange but I’m so excited to make it now!! Thanks for the contest tanster!
Today I went to Wal-Mart and was debating on what color peeps I should choose for this contest. Just then, three girls walked by, saw that I was looking at the peeps, and then started excitedly talking about “The Peeps Contest on Office Tally.” It was awesome encountering Office Fans/Tallyheads in the real world.
I love the Office, I love peeps, so naturally, I love this contest!
[from tanster: omg, are you serious? — that is awesome!]

Question, can you use other parts of peeps for the feet/ arms? This question might have been answered earlier, but i need reassurance, and this could be a key part in my scene. Thanks :)
At management training in Philadelphia (not anger management, so…!!).
I want to enter but can’t due to time constraints. I think the hole Andy left in the wall with Jim and Pam staring (the Mexican return party) would be a great scene to use.

Hi all, as I mentioned in comment #19, I won’t be answering any more specific questions since it wouldn’t be fair to those who have already submitted entries.
Just follow the guidelines! Thanks, Jennie
